The AI Brief
By Shruti Mishra

Hey, welcome to The AI Brief! 👋

This month in AI? Absolute chaos (in the best way).

So here’s a quick, no-fluff brief on what actually mattered. Let’s dive in.

🤖 Product Launches & Tools

From Silicon Valley to Shenzhen, AI product launches came in hot.

1.Google I/O, Gemini 2.5 Pro is now the #1 LLM across all the categories On Cursor, it’s the fastest-growing model churning out millions of lines of code every single minute.

2. COMPUTEX 2025, Nvidia unveiled NVLink Fusion, boosting AI chip dominance. Huang emphasized Taiwan’s key role and China’s $50B AI market.

3. OpenAI launches Codex, an autonomous AI engineer that codes, tests, debugs, and submits PRs already used by Cisco, Temporal.

4. Microsoft Build 2025: New multi-model AI strategy hosts xAI, Meta, Mistral models. GitHub Copilot evolves into autonomous coding agent.

5. Anthropic released Claude, 4 its most advanced AI yet - capable of coding autonomously for 7 hours. Claude Sonnet 4 also launched.

6. UAE and US announce $200B AI campus in Abu Dhabi, world’s largest outside the US, spanning 10 sq miles with 5GW power.

Meanwhile in China, Alibaba’s latest model Qwen3 made waves with its cost-efficient, multilingual prowess, signaling that the global AI race is only heating up.

🧠 Research Breakthroughs

AI kept pushing the boundaries of science this month.

Doctors unveiled an AI test that predicts which prostate cancer patients will benefit from a “gamechanger” drug; and in neuroscience, researchers finally used AI to identify different brain cell types from their electrical signals, cracking a decades-old puzzle. It’s a reminder that beyond the flashy demos, AI is quietly solving real problems in labs and clinics.

💼 Corporate Deals & Strategy

Big tech isn’t slowing down – it’s strategizing at full throttle. Google signaled it’s going “all in” on AI: co-founder Sergey Brin even made a surprise I/O appearance to vow that Google’s Gemini will be the first to reach true AI intelligence.

Microsoft, on the other hand, forged an unlikely alliance by agreeing to host Elon Musk’s new Grok AI model on Azure – a reminder that in the AI arms race, everyone will team up when it’s mutually beneficial.

As companies double down (with buzz of mega-acquisitions in the air), OpenAI is reportedly restructuring amid legal pressures, showing that even the industry leader is recalibrating its strategy on the fly.

⚖️ Policy & Regulation

Regulators are finally waking up to AI’s thorny issues. In the U.S., the Trump administration subpoenaed major tech firms over alleged “woke AI” bias in algorithms and a federal judge openly questioned whether Meta’s AI training on copyrighted books can really count as “fair use”.

Overseas, an Indian court ordered a crackdown on malicious deepfakes and AI-generated false images, and the EU edged closer to passing sweeping AI rules.

The message is clear: policymakers from Washington to New Delhi are racing to set ground rules for AI before it races too far ahead of them.

10 AI Predictions in 2025

In 2025, AI is expected to be integrated to a greater degree within enterprise applications and access to the technology will become more democratized. AI adoption is expected to remain robust, with enterprises continuing to build organizational readiness to compete in the new digital world and adopt best practices toward responsible AI.

🔥 Controversies & Viral Moments

May had its share of AI-fueled drama. An AI-generated image of Donald Trump dressed as the Pope went viral, sparking a political tizzy and fresh debates about deepfakes and misinformation.

And in a more sobering turn, a right-wing activist is suing Meta after its AI chatbot falsely accused him of involvement in a riot – a stark reminder that AI can spread falsehoods with real consequences.

One minute it’s meme-worthy, the next it’s lawsuit-worthy.
